In the crowded slums of Kenya, two siblings—a brother and sister—found themselves alone and vulnerable at a very young age. Their lives took a tragic turn when they lost both parents just a year apart, one in 2002 and the other in 2003. After their parents’ deaths, the children were taken in by a family member, but their struggles were far from over.
For a time, the brother and sister had a place to call home, but the situation soon became dire. The family member who was supposed to care for them decided they no longer wanted the responsibility. Worse still, the boy’s life was in danger, as the caregiver even considered ending it. The children were abandoned, left to face an uncertain future.
Fortunately, their story did not end there. The siblings found refuge at a school supported by the nonprofit Dorcas Destiny International. Here, they not only received an education but also the care and support they so desperately needed. They were provided with uniforms and books—simple things that make a world of difference for children trying to rebuild their lives.
The school, more than just a place of learning, became a sanctuary for these two children. A loving family connected to the school took them in, offering them a safe and nurturing home.
