The Beloved Destiny Children’s Home in Lodwar, Turkana County is one of the most significant initiatives DDI has ever undertaken, and it needs your support to become a reality.
Where Lodwar Is and Why It Matters
Turkana County sits in the far northwest of Kenya, one of the most remote and resource-scarce regions in the country. Chronic drought, deep poverty, and limited access to basic services have shaped life here for generations. Families struggle. Parents are lost too soon. And children who have no one to care for them often find themselves with nowhere to go and no one watching out for them.
In Lodwar, as in many parts of Kenya, the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children are significant and consistent. These are not children who lack ambition or resilience. They are children who lack the basic stability that makes any kind of future possible.
What the Beloved Destiny Children’s Home Will Provide
The home is being established to serve 36 children who are currently without safe, stable housing. For each of them, Beloved Destiny Children’s Home will mean more than gaining a roof. It will mean gaining a life with structure, care, and possibility.
The home will provide:
- Permanent, stable housing so children are no longer exposed to the dangers and uncertainty of life without shelter
- Daily nutritious meals addressing one of the most urgent and immediate needs these children face
- Access to education opening the door to a future that poverty and instability have kept firmly closed
- Mentorship and emotional support because healing from early hardship takes time, consistency, and people who show up
- Life skills and personal development equipping each child to eventually step into adulthood with confidence and capability
This will not be emergency shelter. It will not be a short-term fix. It will be a long-term commitment to raising children who are safe, loved, and prepared for what comes next.
A Partnership Built on Shared Purpose
The Beloved Destiny Children’s Home is being made possible through a partnership between Dorcas Destiny International and Beloved Church in Lena, Illinois. This collaboration is a powerful example of what becomes possible when organizations on opposite sides of the world decide to work together toward a shared vision.
It is also a reminder that DDI’s work in Kenya is not carried by one person or one organization alone. It is carried by a growing network of people who believe that children in Turkana County deserve the same investment and care as children anywhere else in the world.
The Vision Behind Every Meal and Every Lesson
DDI’s work has always been built around one core conviction: that early, sustained investment in children changes everything. A child who is safe, fed, educated, and supported by caring adults does not just survive. He grows. He learns. He becomes someone who gives back to the community around him.
That is the goal in Lodwar. Not just to provide 36 children with a safe place to live, but to raise up a generation of young people who will transform their own communities from the inside out.
The street does not get to write their story. Beloved Destiny Children’s Home will.
